▪️ Every year on 08 May 'World Red Cross Day' is observed all over the world.
▪️ The day highlights the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

▪️ This day provides an opportunity to the general public to know about the world's important agency (Red Cross) involved in providing humanitarian aid and its contribution to the society.

▪️ This year the theme of World Red Cross Day is 'Everything we do comes #fromtheheart'.

▪️ The main objective of the Red Cross Society is basically to inspire, initiate and encourage all kinds of humanitarian activities at all times and in all circumstances.

▪️ World Red Cross Day is observed on 8 May on the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, who was the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

▪️ 'Jean Henry Dunant' was awarded the first Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1901.

▪️ The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was founded by Jean Henri Dunant in the year 1863. The 'Indian Red Cross Society' was formed in the year 1920 in India.

▪️ Red Cross Society is based on 7 principles, Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntariness, Unity and Universality.

▪️ The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary humanitarian organization established in the year 1920 to protect human life and health with the help of its network across India.

▪️ It is a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world's largest independent humanitarian organization.

▪️ It aims to provide relief in times of disasters and emergencies and also to promote health facilities among vulnerable people and communities.

▪️ The President of India is the President and the Union Health Minister is the President of the Society.
